The Things We Get Ourselves Into
Wow! There's just so many things happening, that we had to add an extra page just for goings-on, announcements, awards, shows, and new additions to our mare-band.
August 17, 2008 - We brought home the newest addition to our mare band - Sheza Star Bright, aka. Stella. Stella was given to us by Katie Janssen of Cottonwood, CA. She is a sweet mare and we are very happy to have her, especially now that she's bred to Time To Rickashay, a Doc's Hickory grandson owned by Katie and her husband Justin. We won't be riding Stella, but we'll surely be raising her babies to be the running and cow bred champions they're destined to be. Be sure to check back for photos of Stella and her own personal page. Welcome home, Stella.
July 15, 2008 - We met with our local reining/cow-horse trainer at the Janesville arena. He rode Raw-Lee for us and gave us an honest evaluation of her skill and potential. We'll be seeing you all at NRHA Green as Grass classes as soon as Brianna gets her homework done on this mare. Please take a look at Raw-Lee's page for new and improved pictures - as well as photos of this morning's session.
July 3, 2008 - Brianna and Raw-Lee got to work in the round-pen, thanks to Jill. Raw-Lee did everything she's supposed to, we're still working on Brianna though :) Also, we got Raw-Lee's FQHA calulation back, she's 95.1171875% Foundation Quarter Horse according to them. Yay! That splains everything...just look at her. She's gorgeous!!!
July 1, 2008 - Brianna and Reba went on their first trail ride. What a great lady Reba is. Brianna was VERY pleased with their success. Take a look at Reba's page for new and WAY improved photos. I'm finally getting better at this equine photography thing. Yay me!
We also put our 6 baby chicks out with the grown-ups for the first time. They're just toooooo smelly to keep in the house any longer. Hopefully they'll be accepted into the brood.
June 29, 2008 - We finally received Dovey's NFQA calculation. According to them, she is 88.427734375% Foundation Quarter Horse...WOOHOO!!! Now the real question is...will the NFQHA agree? We'll be submitting certification applications this week on both Dovey and Raw-Lee.
Also, Brianna and Raw-Lee spent some time in the round-pen. Check out Raw-Lee's page for tons of photos. I'll add information once I get it all together.
June 28, 2008 - Winnie and D'Artanion both went to a new home in Garden Valley, CA. They are now owned by PJ Peralta and her daughter Jenae. We are so pleased that they went to such good people. Jenae will now have a wonderful, honest, kind mare to ride into old age, while PJ will have her hands full with D'Artanion's weaning and training. I just know that they will love their new mama and baby.
At the same time, we welcomed the newest addition to our mare band, though she won't be bred for years, Miss N Rattle. She was owned by PJ Peralta, who rode her every Saturday night in team penning events. She has been given the new barn name of "Raw-Lee" (pronounced Raleigh) and is a 4 year old reining bred and trained, liver- chestnut mare by NRHA Stallion Mr Rattle N Hum and out of Joses Tamu Miss x Doc N Jose. This mare was bred by Dave Belson of Cave Creek, AZ, donated as a raffle prize to the CRHA, started by Mike Boyle, NRHA President, and trained by Steven Allen, in Auburn, CA. She's absolutely awesome!!! We are very much looking forward to seeing what Raw-Lee and Brianna can do in the show arena. We're planning on going to our first NRHA show in September.
Look for more news and photos to come on our mares pages.
